As of now, there is a low pressure area hovering over South Pakistan and adjoining Southwest Rajasthan region. We can also see an upper air cyclonic circulation lying at mid tropospheric levels. The Western Disturbance is also moving across Jammu and Kashmir region.
Thus, multiple weather systems brought moderate to heavy showers over the hills as well as the plains of North India. Parts of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir have received Monsoon rains.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Jammu received 127.6 mm of rainfall while Katra received even more rains to the tune of 175.2 mm.
Here’s a look at the rainfall figures over the hills of North India during last 24 hours:
In Punjab, Bhatinda received 90.6 mm of rainfall. Patiala received 46.8 mm of rainfall while Amritsar received 19.5 mm. The Palam observatory in Delhi also received about 18 mm of rainfall during last 24 hours.
Rainfall will continue over North India for another 24 to 48 hours.
