Monsoon has been vigorous over various parts of coastal India. Like Machilipatnam and Kakinada in East Coast whereas many areas of West Coast along with Car Nicobar in Andaman & Nicobar Islands are the main regions where heavy triple digit Monsoon rainfall was observed.
This means that the Monsoon remained vigorous over Konkan & Goa as many places in the region recorded three digit rains. Earlier, till yesterday, there was a cyclonic circulation over South Gujarat which gradually became insignificant but a trough persisted over North Konkan & Goa leading to vigorous Monsoon activities.
Now there will be a gradual decrease in rain intensity over Konkan & Goa but one or two places may still record three digit rainfall.
Over East Coast, Machilipatnam and Kakinada received 100 mm plus rains. This was due to the low-pressure system persisting over coastal Andhra Pradesh and now it has intensified into a well-marked low-pressure system. So now we can expect few good spells over coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining Telangana.
Now possibilities of 100 mm plus rainfall have shifted over to Telangana and over coastal Andhra Pradesh as the well-marked low pressure system has move inwards towards Telangana.
Places that have received triple digit rainfall are: Harnai 219 mm of rains, Mumbai 145.8 mm, Car Nicobar 145 mm, Machilipatnam 118.6 mm, Dahanu 111 mm, Kakinada 107.4 mm and Mahabaleshwar 106 mm of rainfall.
