Almost all the areas of Maharashtra have received good rainfall till date in the entire season of Monsoon. Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra both the regions have received moderate to heavy rains in the last couple of days whereas; Konkan & Goa has received extremely heavy rains.
But the intensity of rainfall over Vidarbha was comparatively less as the region recorded light to moderate rains.
Now heavy to very heavy rain will continue over Konkan & Goa and thereafter there will be a gradual decrease in rain intensity. Vidarbha and Marathwada will continue to receive good rains but few areas may even receive heavy spells.
These heavy rain spell can be expected due to the stronger weather system in the form of a well-marked low pressure system walking in the region. This weather system is presently over coastal Andhra Pradesh and as this system will continue to persist over the region for the time being.
Therefore parts of Vidarbha, Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra will continue to receive good rains for next 3-4 days. As of now all the regions of Maharashtra have received surplus rainfall during the course of Monsoon season.
At present, Konkan & Goa is rainfall surplus by 17%, Madhya Maharashtra is 12% rainfall surplus. Marathwada is rainfall surplus by 9% and Vidarbha is 4% rainfall surplus.
During last 24 hours, fairly widespread rainfall has occurred over entire Maharashtra. These rains will help to improve the rainfall figures of all the regions of the state.
