For the last couple of days,Telanganahas been receiving some heavy to extremely heavy spell of rains. Especially the capital Hyderabad which has received, triple the amount of its monthly rainfall. Till September 24, the city ofHyderabadhad received 407 mm of rains.

These rains over the entire region can be attributed to the well-marked low-pressure system which continues to persist over Vidarbha and adjoining Telangana. An associated cyclonic circulation can be seen 7.6kms above mean sea level.

Good rains are likely to continue over the region as the weather system is likely to remain stationary for next 2 days. After 48 hours the system is likely to weaken gradually.

The system has given good rains in last 24 hours with fairly widespread moderate to heavy spells over state. In the last 21 hours from 08:30 am yesterday to 05:30 am today, Hyderabad has received 17 mm of rainfall.

At present the state of Telangana has received 836 mm of rains against the normal rainfall of 725.6 mm of rainfall. This means that the state is rainfall surplus by 15%.

For the time being, these good falls are likely to continue over the state for next 48 hours. Post 48 hours, the rainfall will pour with a decreased intensity. But no immediate relief can be seen likely over the state.
