Chhattisgarh continues to witness good Monsoon rains for the third consecutive day. In fact, the rain activity has been more intense during the last 24 hours.
All thanks to the low pressure area which has moved further westwards and is presently prevailing over North Chhattisgarh and adjoining Jharkhand. Moreover, the axis of Monsoon trough is also passing through the state.
In wake of this, most parts of the state have recorded fairly widespread moderate to heavy rains. Durg recorded was the rainiest city of the state wherein it recorded 111 mm in span of 24 from 8:30 am on Friday. This was followed by Raipur that saw 73.4 mm of rain, Jagdalpur 34 mm, Rajnandgaon 24.8 mm, Ambikapur 21.6 mm, and Bilaspur 11.3 mm.
Further, we expect these monsoon rains to continue for another 24 hours to 48 hours. According to weathermen, low pressure area is moving at a slow pace and thus good rains will continue to pound the region.
As on August 5, the cumulative rain deficiency for the state stands at 1%, which falls under the normal rainfall category. However, with more rains in offing, we expect the state to cover up the deficiency with ease and head towards surplus rainfall.
