Monsoon rain to reduce over Gujarat and Rajasthan

Many parts of Gujarat and Rajasthan have been receiving heavy downpours for the last many days. In fact, many districts of Gujarat experienced one of the worst floods in recent years. Southern and eastern parts of Gujarat also witnessed moderate to heavy rain. Gujarat and Rajasthan both are large rain excess. As on July 28, Rajasthan is surplus by 79% and Gujarat by 85%.

The cyclonic circulation which was persisting over Gujarat and adjoining areas has weakened. The monsoon trough has also moved to the north. Rain activities will now reduce significantly over Gujarat. There may be light to moderate rain over the southern parts of Gujarat. However, Saurashtra and Kutch will witness isolated light rain.

On the other hand, there will be a significant reduction in rain activities in Western districts of Rajasthan. However, eastern parts of Rajasthan may witness scattered light rain with one or two moderate spells. The overall intensity and spread of rain how will reduce significantly from Gujarat and Rajasthan for at least the next 3 to 4 days. There may be some increase in rain activities over East Rajasthan from August 3rd or 4th, we do not expect heavy rain for at least the next 10 days.
