Mumbai rains have been lashing the maximum city for quite some time now. Good rains have been witnessed over Mumbai since the day Southwest Monsoon made an onset over the city. During the last fifteen days, the city has also recorded three digit rains on several occasions.
However, Mumbai rains stuttered for a while. The city did not receive heavy rains during the last 24 hours. In fact, Pune, where heavy rains are not a usual affair, recorded more rains than Mumbai during this period. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Santa Cruz observatory recorded 25.7 mm of rain and Colaba received 31.8 mm rainfall.
So far, in the first four days of the month, Mumbai has recorded 266.8 mm of rain which is far better than what it recorded in the first 15 days of June. The monthly average rain in Mumbai for July stands at 799.7 mm.
While Mumbai rains did display an average performance yesterday, however, rains have improved slightly. In a span of six hours from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm on Monday, Mumbai recorded 23 mm of rain. The city is receiving rainfall at present and more rains are likely in the next few hours.
During the next 24 to 48 hours, light to moderate rain will continue over Mumbai. Also, the possibility of isolated heavy showers cannot be ruled out.
