Mumbai rains are finally here and there is proof! Southwest Monsoon has finally made an onset over Mumbai on June 20 after a delay of ten days. While the arrival of Monsoon wasn’t a grand affair, rains have picked up pace during the last ten hours or so.
The city had been receiving light rain during the early morning hours of yesterday. However, rains stopped and almost no rains were witnessed between 3:00 pm and 9:00 pm. Thus, while Monsoon has made an onset, the typical Mumbai rains were definitely missing from the picture.
However, as the evening came to an end and the night begun, residents rejoiced as it looked like Mumbai rains were back for good. Good showers began to lash the maximum city at about 9:00 pm and rain saga continues until the morning hours.
As per the locals, it rained cats and dogs during the night hours and these showers were accompanied by lightning and thunder as well. Many areas including Bandra, Vashi, Bandra Kurla Complex, Kurla West, and a few more have reported heavy rains.
In fact, it’s not only the city alone that has been receiving good showers since last night but the suburbs including Navi Mumbai and Thane have also been receiving good rains. Now, during the next 24 hours, on and off rains will continue over the maximum city. It is safe to say that Mumbai rains are back.
