Good Monsoon rains have been going on over West Bengal, since the beginning of Monsoon season. In fact, during the last 24 hours as well, few good showers were witnessed over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Bankura recorded 56 mm of rain, followed by Coochbehar 8 mm, Midnapore 5.6 mm, Diamond Harbour 2.3 mm, Malda 1.8 mm and Burdwan 1.6 mm.

At present, a low-pressure area is over central parts of Uttar Prdaesh, one end of the axis of Monsoon trough is running via Vardaman and Kolkata and the other end is extending up to Assam via northern parts of west Bengal.

Therefore, we expect moderate to heavy rainfall activity over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Meanwhile, light to moderate rains will occur over remaining parts of the state for the next two to three days.

After 2-3 days, rains will decrease over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining districts, but moderate rains will still continue over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.

Places like Darjeeling, Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri and Bagdogra are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall activity.

Temperatures are also likely to remain comfortable over the northern districts of West Bengal and warm and humid or the southern parts of the state.
