September 28, 2017 4:36 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Kolkata has witnessed only scattered light Monsoon rains from the past one week. These Monsoon rains have not affected the Durga Puja celebrations, so far. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Wednesday, Kolkata recorded very light scattered rain to the tune of 0.3 mm.

Meanwhile, in the same span of time, rest parts of West Bengal such as Bankura recorded 39.6 mm of rain, Diamond Harbour 27.6 mm, Digha 17.2 mm, Malda 11 mm, Bahrampur 9 mm and Burdwan 5.7 mm of rain.

However, we are afraid that rains may disrupt the festivities now. At present, a cyclonic circulation lies over Northeastern parts of Bay of Bengal. This weather system will be moving eastwards slowly.

Due to this,  warm and moist winds from the Bay of Bengal will be affecting Kolkata and other parts of West Bengal for the next three to four days. Hence, warm and humid weather with cloudy sky will be prevailing over the city of joy.

As per Skymet Weather, spells of light to moderate rain and thundershower will affect the city daily for at least three to four days, mainly towards afternoon hours. The maximum temperatures will remain between 33°C and 35°C. However, temperatures during the night will remain between 26°C-27°C.
