As anticipated by Skymet Weather, Gangetic West Bengal has received moderate showers during the last 24 hours. In fact, many stations of Sub Himalayan West Bengal also recorded Monsoon rainfall activity during the same time frame. Meanwhile, Monsoon rains were scanty over the central districts such as Baharampur, Dinajpur, Birbhum, and Nadia.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Bardhaman recorded heavy rain to the tune of 49.8 mm of rain, Sriniketan 25.8 mm, Krishnanagar 24 mm, Darjeeling 21 mm, Jalpaiguri 15.8 mm, Kolkata 13.2 mm. Cooch Behar 9.2 mm, Midnapore 7.4 mm, Bankura 4.4 mm and Diamond Harbour 3.5 mm of rains.
Now, the axis of Monsoon trough is extending across North Coastal Odisha. Due to the oscillation of the Monsoon trough, rain intensity is expected to increase over Gangetic West Bengal in the coming days. Sub Himalayan West Bengal will record similar rainfall activity. Meanwhile, rains in the central districts will be mainly light.
With this, on and off light to moderate rain with one or two heavy spells with strong gusty winds are expected over Bankura, Bardhaman, Birbhum, Howrah, Hugli, Kolkata, Murshidabad, Nadia, North 24 Parganas, Paschim Midnapore, Purba Midnapore, Purulia and South 24 Parganas during the next 48 hours.
As on July 9, Gangetic West Bengal and Sub Himalayan West Bengal are rain deficient by 26 percent and 4 percent, respectively. However, we do expect rain deficiency to reduce as the rains will not be vigorous but the showers may ease down the temperatures.
Comfortable weather conditions will prevail in Gangetic West Bengal. Meanwhile, weather in the central districts would be uncomfortable.
