Monsoon rain in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand to continue

Scattered rains have been lashing the Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand for the past many days. In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh recorded heavy rain to the tune of 87 mm, Manali 38.4 mm, Solan 31 mm and Sundernagar 37 mm of rains.

In the same span of time, Katra in Jammu and Kashmir recorded 40.6 mm of rains. Meanwhile, Dehradun in Uttarakhand witnessed 14 mm of rain, Mussorrie 4.5 mm, Nainital 4 mm and Pithoragarh 3.9 mm of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, the Western Disturbance lies over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir region. This system would move slowly east-northeastwards. In association with this system, easterly warm and moist winds are prevailing over Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Therefore, moisture is increasing over both these states.

Henceforth, good spell of Monsoon rain and thundershowers are likely over the Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the next 24 to 48 hours. In fact, in view of moderate to heavy rainfall activity landslides are possible over the state of Uttarakhand. Meanwhile, rainfall activity will be light to moderate intensity over the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The tourists are advised to avoid hill stations of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand as heavy rains are expected to pour down.
