The famous vacation capital, Goa is a famous Monsoon destination. Monsoon rain in Goa makes it all the more beautiful and mesmerizing. Light rains on the Goa beaches makes it a worth visiting tourist spot. Though ever since August has begun, most parts of Goa have not witnessed very good rains and only light to isolated moderate spells have been seen in parts of the state.

The rain intensity which was moderate in the last 48 hours, has reduced considerably and from the last 24 hours, only light spells have occurred over the state. Within the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Panjim recorded 7 mm of rains. During the similar time frame, the other districts of the state that recorded light to isolated moderate spells include Canacona 38 mm, Dabolim 37.4 mm, Mormugao 30.2 mm, Ponda 24 mm and Mapusa 8.4 mm of rains.

However, as per Skymet Weather, rain intensity over the state of Goa is now expected to increase as the offshore trough that is running along the West Coast has become active and is likely to stay active. This trough has further activated the Monsoon Surge and thus, in the next 2-3 days, rains are likely to enhance over parts of the state.

However, within the next 34-36 hours, a slight reduction in rains is anticipated but thereafter, increased rains will prevail. The monthly mean for Panjim stands at a whopping 591.6 mm while, till date, it has managed to receive 132 mm of rains. Thus, with almost 15 days on hand for the month to get over, one of the most favored tourist spots has a way to go to surpass its monthly mean.
