Monsoon 2018 has now covered entire state of Punjab as well as Haryana, with which rain showers of light to moderate intensity occurred over most parts during the past two days.

In fact; the intensity of the rains has augmented during the past 24 hours, due to which isolated places witnessed heavy spells.

In a span of 24 hours, Bhiwani recorded heavy rains to the tune of 69 mm, followed by Faridabad 48 mm, Gurugram 42 mm, Narnaul 39 mm, Jalandhar 35 mm, Rohtak 34 mm, Kurukshetra 30 mm, Pathankot 23 mm, Hisar 20 mm, Chandigarh 17 mm, Amritsar 12 mm and Patiala 12 mm.

These rains could be attributed to the east-west trough that is extending from Northwest Rajasthan up to East India across South Haryana. Now, we expect this trough to shift towards the north, thus intensifying the rains over many parts of Punjab. In fact, Haryana would too observe good showers. Along with rains; the day maximums will also remain comfortable for the next three days.

These sporadic showers are most expected to continue at least until July 1. Thereafter; heavy to very heavy rains are anticipated over the hills of North India including Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

However, rains will lessen over the northwest plains inclusive of Punjab and Haryana. And from July 2 onward, showers will further decrease but the possibility of isolated rains cannot be ruled out over the region. On similar note, the day temperatures would too increase.
