Monsoon rain in Ahmedabad, Surat, Baroda, Valsad for another 24 hours

After witnessing a dry spell, the weather conditions took a u-turn and many parts of Gujarat have been witnessing scattered Monsoon rains since past 48 hours.  We can say that before withdrawing, Southwest Monsoon is bestowing the last spell on the state.

Rains have been observed mostly in the Saurashtra and Gujarat region but Kutch remained dry all this while.

These Monsoon showers can be attributed to a trough which is extending from North Madhya Maharashtra to Southeast Arabian Sea across Interior Karnataka. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation is also lying over Southwest Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Vallabh Vidyanagar received heavy rains of 45 mm, Amreli 17 mm, Idar 14 mm and Baroda 4 mm.

According to Skymet Weather, light to moderate rains are likely to continue over Gujarat for another 24 hours. Saurashtra region may get light rains that too over just one or two places. The weather of Kutch region will remain almost dry.

Places such as Baroda, Surat, Ahmedabad, Valsad, Bhavnagar and Mahuva may observe Monsoon rains of light to moderate intensity.

Morning and nights will remain a bit comfortable, but days will be warm and humid to some extent. Day maximums are likely to range in 34-37 degrees, while minimums will settle in 25-27 degrees.

The state of Gujarat as a whole is rain surplus by 22 percent, while as far as regional rainfall distribution is concerned; Gujarat region is rain surplus by 12 percent and Saurashtra and Kutch by 40 percent.
