Consistent spells of heavy rain over the last week have left Mumbai somewhat paralyzed. Waterlogging has exposed the geographical deformity of the city bringing it to a standstill. But marginal relief has been experienced and more respite is expected ahead.
The depression in the Arabian Sea which moved closer to the Gujarat coast in the last two days brought heavy rain showers over Mumbai. Moreover, the offshore trough extending from Gujarat to Kerala also contributed with generous amounts of moisture. But now, the depression has weakened and has moved towards Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
As a result, comparatively better weather conditions are likely in Mumbai now, with no heavy rains expected in the city. Intermittent rain in the form of passing showers can be expected and cloudy conditions will persist throughout the city.
But even with few spells of rain and thundershowers expected tomorrow, the city will still take some time to revert to its usual lively state. Several areas still remain affected as Mumbaikars wade ahead knee-deep in water.
