Despite the late arrival of Monsoon, it has been progressing with a satisfactory pace in the state of Maharashtra.  Good rains have been lashing Madhya Maharashtra as well as parts of Konkan and Goa for the last two to three days.

In the last 24 hours, from 8:30 am on Monday, Mahabaleshwar has recorded 23 mm of rainfall followed by Solapur 17 mm, Nashik 16 mm, Malegaon 15 mm and Colaba (Mumbai) 7 mm.

Have a look at the top 10 rainiest places in Maharashtra in the last 24 hours:

According to Skymet, a Cyclonic Circulation is over Southwest Madhya Pradesh. And an offshore Trough is extending from the Maharashtra coast up to the Kerala coast. This Trough will gain more strength now and will continue to give light to moderate rains in Madhya Maharashtra for the next 48 hours. Gradually, rains will increase in Konkan and Goa as well. Places like Pune, Kolhapur and Nashik would witness heavy rains for the next two days.

The city of dreams, Mumbai and its suburbs will now experience rains with increased intensity. Heavy rains are in store between June 27 and June 30. In fact, one or two very heavy spells of rain and thundershowers cannot be ruled out in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, scattered rains would continue in parts of Vidarbha such as Chandrapur, Bramhapuri and Gondia.

On the contrary, the weather in Marathwada would remain mostly dry. However, isolated light rains may be observed during the next two days.

A good spell of rain and thundershower is expected in Vidarbha and Marathwada only by the first week of July. This will be due to the formation of a probable Low-Pressure Area in the Bay of Bengal. This system will initially travel towards coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and further move towards Vidarbha.

The region of Vidarbha has largely remained rain deficient so far. Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada, too have experienced deficient rains. However, ongoing good rains will help the region of Madhya Maharashtra to narrow its rainfall deficiency
