Most of the cities along the Kerala coast, such as Kochi, Kozhikode and Thiruvananthpuram are receiving rain for the last few days. This rain is expected to intensify further during the next two to three days as southwest monsoon could arrive over Kerala any time now. Rain is also expected along the West and East coast during the period. Rise in temperatures expected in northwest and adjoining central India.
Weather has turned cloudy and rain is expected over almost the entire coastline on both flanks of peninsular India from Mumbai to Thiruvananthpuram in Western Ghats and pre-monsoon showers from Kolkata to Chennai in Eastern Ghats. Moist winds from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are invading these coastal areas.
A cyclonic circulation off Orissa coast is the cause for such weather along the east coast. Kolkata, Balasore, Bhubaneswar, Kakinada, Visakhapatnam, Nellore and Chennai all have chances of rain under a partly cloudy sky becoming cloudy at times during the next two days. Temperatures in these coastal areas would drop too but the humidity level would be high.
Rain would also occur at one or two places over Bihar, Jharkhand, interiors of Orissa and Chhattisgarh as a trough of low pressure runs up to the above-mentioned system from Bihar. Rain has reduced in northeastern states as most of the moisture is being pulled away by the system in the sea. One or two places will get rain due the cyclonic circulation over Assam during the period.
In north India, temperatures would rise tomorrow onwards after the exit of the Western Disturbance from Jammu & Kashmir. Rain is expected at one or two places in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand till tomorrow. Delhi will also see very hot weather conditions during the next two days. Heat wave is not expected as of now. Wind conditions in Delhi will change to increase the temperatures.
Parts of central India near northwest region will experience rise in day temperatures during the next two days. Eastern parts will see drop in temperature due to a partly cloudy sky during this period. Eastern India, especially parts of south Uttar Pradesh, could witness heat wave conditions as winds coming here will be warm and dry.
