At present or to be more specific, the weather conditions over the city of Pune have remained a matter of concern for its residents. This could be attributed to the heatwave like conditions that have been prevailing over the area. So much so that the maximum as well as the minimums, both have been settling above the normal range.

Yesterday, the city recorded a maximum of 39.6°C, which is four degrees above normal. Likewise, the minimum registered is 26.4°C, which is three degrees above normal.

Talking about the rain, the monthly average for the month of May stands at 40.6 mm, however this year; the weather over the city remained more or less dry, with very light rain activity on May 23.

Now, as per the weather agency Skymet Weather, the wait for the rain has ended, as Monsoon is just steps away from the city and almost bumping the door at Kerala.

At present, pre-Monsoon rains have been occurring over South Madhya Maharashtra and parts of Konkan and Goa. Weathermen anticipate these rains to move and slowly cover the North. By June 1, rains will commence over Pune, leading to drop in the soaring temperatures.

So, on and off light to moderate rain and thundershowers will continue over the area until the onset of Monsoon, which would be anytime during the second week of June. With the rains, respite could be expected as then the weather would turn pleasant.
