The weather condition will keep improving during the next 24 to 48 hours in the hilly terrain of Uttarakhand. This will aid in restoration work which is going on in full swing over the state.

We do not expect very heavy rainfall over the region now. However, few moderate spells of Monsoon showers cannot be ruled out.

During last 24 hours, rain reduced in intensity significantly as major cities received very light rain in the span. Dehradun received just 1 mm of rainfall while Mukteshwar recorded 17 mm.

According to media reports, at least 40 people are feared dead in the recent Monsoon mayhem in Uttarakhand. Heavy rains over the weekend triggered flash floods and landslides in Uttarakhand. Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts are the worst affected regions.

Relief operations are going on and several damaged roads have already been repaired, according to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat.
