Mumbai rains are back again and that too with great pomp and show. And mind you, these are not the rains that go away in a jiffy. These are the rains that are here to stay for a really long time. Southwest Monsoon has finally made an onset over Mumbai and Mumbaikars couldn’t have been happier.
The last 48 hours have seen some heavy rains over the city of dreams. In fact, a day before the city witnessed a whopping 94 mm of rain. Last night also, the maximum city did receive heavy rains but the observatory did not record these rains.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, both the Santa Cruz observatory as well as the Colaba observatory witnessed 25 mm of rainfall each. However, heavy rains were recorded over many parts of the city.

So much so that several flights were delayed during the night from several airlines carriers due to bad weather. Not only this, Mumbai local is also running late. Weather gods have been playing the games of sunny, cloudy and rainy weather with the Mumbaikars.

As per weathermen at Skymet, good rains are expected to continue over the city of Mumbai during the next 24 hours or so. Thereafter, the active off shore trough will become weak resulting in the reduction of Monsoon rains over Mumbai.
