Monsoon likely to become active over Delhi

Between June 1 and July 17, Delhi has received 16% less rainfall than normal. Normally, 163.1 mm of rainfall is received during this period, whereas Delhi has received 136.7 mm so far. If we talk about the month of July, then between July 1 and July 17, Delhi has received 154.7 mm of rainfall. The average rainfall for the month of July is 195.8 mm.

Delhi has received good rainfall only twice in the last 17 days, 117 mm on July 1 and 30 mm on July 17. The rest of July remained almost dry and warm. In between, isolated light showers were witnessed but they failed to give any relief from ongoing sultry weather.

The monsoon trough has remained over Central India for the last several days, due to which Central India is getting heavy rains. Now the monsoon trough will move over Gangetic plains. North India including Delhi will once again see good rains.

From July 20, rain activities will increase over North India including Delhi and may continue for the next 4 or 5 days. During the next 1 week, Delhi will complete July's average rainfall. With the effect of the upcoming rains, the temperature in North India including Delhi will increase and get rid of heat and humidity.
