Good rains have been lashing West Coast. Many areas in Kerala, Karnataka and Konkan and Goa have been receiving good showers. So much so that three digit rainfall has also been observed over isolated pockets of Kerala and Karnataka during the last 48 hours.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Karwar recorded a whopping 53 mm of rain followed by Gulbarga where 29 mm of rainfall was observed. Other areas to have received rains include Kochi 4.6 mm, Ratnagiri 12 mm, Honavar 10.6 mm, Mangalore 44 mm rain.
Now, during the next 24 to 48 hours, rainfall intensity is likely to increase over several parts of the West Coast. While moderate to heavy rainfall will remain confined to North Kerala and Coastal Karnataka, scattered light to moderate rain is expected over parts of Interior Karnataka.
Rainfall intensity is expected to once again witness an increase June 5 onwards. Heavy to very heavy rain may occur over North Kerala and Karnataka coast. June 6 onward, southern parts of Kerala will once again start receiving fairly widespread rainfall.
Simultaneously, rain belt will start shifting towards north along the Maharashtra coast. By June 8, good rains will occur over parts of Maharashtra including Raigarh, Dahanu, Mumbai and Pune. These rains will continue till onset of Monsoon.
Most parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra Pradesh will receive good rains after June 10.
