However, weather conditions went almost dry during the month of August as well as even in September so far. As per weathermen, there were rare occasions when the state saw scattered showers. However, these spells remained helpless to cause any significant impact in the rain stats.

But we can now expect Monsoon rains to make an appearance. We expect scattered light to moderate showers over Interior Tamil Nadu during the next 24 to 48 hours because of a north-south trough running across Interior Tamil Nadu.

Not only this, coastal areas are also likely to record some rains, particularly Chennai. The state capital stands a fair chance of some light to moderate rains during that time.

Thereafter, the intensity of rainfall will reduce over the interior parts of Tamil Nadu, but coastal areas may continue to witness some scattered rains until September 14.

Tamil Nadu records major amount of rain during the Northeast Monsoon that spans from October to December. Slowly and steadily as we progress towards October, rains would also start increasing gradually.

November is the rainiest month for the state. The state records 60% of its annual rainfall during the approaching three-month long season.
