Monsoon in Revival phase over South India, rains for Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Rayalaseema

Rains have been on the lower side for southern parts of India, despite that, the Southern Peninsula is rain surplus by 8 percent, whereas other parts of the country including Central India, Northwest and East as well as Northeast India are running rain deficient. In fact, if we talk about the entire country, all India rain deficiency is around 5 percent.

Although since last many days, rains had remained subdued over entire Tamil Nadu and interior parts of Karnataka. In fact, it was the northern and central parts which were seeing rainfall activities.

Now, since last couple of days, rains have picked up pace over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, along with interior Karnataka and Rayalaseema. In fact, in the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Tiruchchirappalli in Tamil Nadu recorded 118 mm of rains, Chintamani in Karnataka saw 111 mm of rains, and Madurai saw 58 mm of rainfall.

Moreover, moderate showers have been going on over many areas of Kerala and Coastal Karnataka. Thus, we can say that Monsoon in revival phase over South Peninsula.

Whenever there is break Monsoon condition over the Northwest Plains, rainfall activities usually see an increase in the southern peninsula. Although, rains will not be very heavy over South India, the dry spell that was seen will now take a backseat.

These rains are likely to continue over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, adjoining parts of South Interior Karnataka and Rayalaseema for at least three days.
