Coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh have been receiving very good Monsoon rains. This could be attributed to the weather system developing near the East Coast.
The low pressure area over westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal, off south Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh coasts is lingering on. The associated upper air cyclonic circulation can be seen extending up to 7.6 Km above the mean sea level. It is likely to move inland very soon. It could also intensify to become a well-marked low pressure area during next 24 hours.
Further intensification of the system looks improbable as it has formed over the coastal areas. Thus, it will not get much time to remain in the sea and intensify. If it would have formed in central parts of the Bay of Bengal, it would have enough to gather moisture and intensify simultaneously.
Already it has given good rainfall over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telanagana.
During last 24 hours, Vijayawada has received 59 mm of rainfall, Narsapur 46 mm, Nandigama 36 mm and Machilipatnam 28 mm.
We can expect rains to continue over the region. Gradually, rainfall activities will reduce as the weather system moves away westward, in the central parts of the country.
