Monsoon hits Kerala, likely to head towards Karnataka in next 24 hours

rain in keralaThe first weekend of June is around the corner and weather Gods did not fail to give the good news to residents of Kerala who have been eagerly waiting for the arrival of Southwest Monsoon. The much awaited Monsoon has hit Kerala and is now expected to give fairly widespread rain in parts of Kerala including hills of Kerala and coastal parts of the state in next 24 hours.

It has further advanced into some parts of the Central Arabian Sea, the entire south Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep area, some parts of Tamil Nadu and the coastal and southern interior Karnataka, along with parts of central and northeast Bay of Bengal, as well as remaining parts of southeast Bay of Bengal.

According to Skymet, in the next 48 hours, the Southwest Monsoon may further advance into parts of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh and parts of Rayalaseema and parts of Northeast India as conditions look quite favourable.

Rains in Kerala in last 48 hours

In the last 48 hours, Kerala has received fairly widespread rainfall. For Monsoon onset over Kerala, out of the 14 rainfall monitoring stations, over 70% of stations have received more than 2.5 mm rainfall for the last two days.
