The usual onset date for Delhi to welcome Monsoon is June 29. But by the looks of the weather gods it can very well be said that Delhi has missed its onset date of Monsoon. The weather agency predicted the early arrival of Monsoon i.e. on June 27. But it is clear that they have missed its date.
Although a delay of 2-3 days is not a major concern. Skymet weather predicted the onset date for Monsoon on July 1 and it more likely that Monsoon will spread its wings over Delhi around that time only.
Having said that, Delhi’s rainfall measurements for the month of June is far below than average. Even with some good showers in last two days would not be able to suffice or come near the monthly normal.

With just a day left in the month of June we do not expect any significant change. Light showers are expected on the morning of June 30, but that will not add any big number to the monthly average for Delhi. It is sure that first month of Monsoon will be deficit for Delhi.
But the coming days are promising for Delhi; July will start with a bang on a positive note. Good and heavy rainfall is expected around July 1-2.
A cyclonic circulation is over Chhattisgarh and adjoining East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha, due to this Monsoon current is pushing clouds over Delhi. Along with the cyclonic circulation, a depression that is over Arabian Sea will also help the Monsoon rains over Delhi.
Even a Western Disturbance is going to hit the capital city in next 48 hours. The combination of the three weather systems is bound to give good rains to Delhi & NCR.
