As on June 28, West Rajasthan is rain surplus by 7 percent and East Rajasthan by 34 percent in terms of rains.

At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is running through Jaisalmer and Kota. Therefore, light to moderate Monsoon rains are likely to continue over many parts of Rajasthan during another 24 hours.

Places such as Ajmer, Alwar, Banswara, Baran, Barmer, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Churu, Dausa, Dhaulpur, Dungarpur, Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jalor, Jhalawar, Jhunjhunun, Jodhpur, Karauli, Kota, Nagaur, Pali, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Sawai Madhopur, Sikar, Sirohi, Tonk and Udaipur are likely to witness rain and thundershower activity. In fact, strong winds are also expected to blow. In wake of these rains, the weather across the state is likely to be comfortable for another 24 hours.

Thereafter, the Monsoon rain intensity will reduce over Rajasthan. Though, light rains may continue. However, we anticipate rains to further reduce by July 2. Thus, weather across Rajasthan will turn dry and hot once again. Though, isolated spot showers cannot be ruled out.

The upcoming dry spell is expected to continue over the state until July 7 or 8. The reason for the dry spell would be attributed to the shifting of the Monsoon trough towards the foothills of Himalayas leading to the inflow of hot southwesterly winds over entire Rajasthan. The maximum temperatures which are currently settling in mid-30s are likely to once again reach up to the higher 30s leading to hot and uneasy weather conditions.
