Southwest Monsoon has paved its way across the state of Rajasthan and is pouring rains at many places. Southern parts of Rajasthan have been receiving light to moderate rains since many days. Scattered rains are being observed by the western districts. While weather of north and central districts have remained almost dry.

In the past 24 hours from 8.30 am on Wednesday Jaisalmer witnessed 28.1 mm of rainfall, Sri Ganganagar 28 mm, Mount Abu 9.6 mm, Pilani 7.1 mm and Chittorgarh 4 mm.

These light rains can be attributed to the depression over Coastal Odisha which will gradually move towards Madhya Pradesh and South Rajasthan. Another cyclonic circulation is persisting over Kutch and adjoining South Rajasthan.

Due to these combined weather systems, we expect moderate rains with one or two heavy spells over South Rajasthan. The intensity of rains will increase gradually as the depression will move and hence by July 21 and 22 we expect few heavy to very heavy spells over South and Central districts of Rajasthan.

Northern districts of the state which includes Churu, Bikaner, and Ganganagar may also witness rains around July 22 and 23. Hence the entire state is likely to receive rains and weather will remain below normal.
