Monsoon cheers for Bengaluru soon, Pre-Monsoon showers overflow many parts

Southwest Monsoon is likely to hit the silicon city of Bengaluru soon. Southern parts of the state of Karnataka inclusive of Mysore, Mandya, Chamrajnagar, Kollar, and the capital city Bengaluru possibly will see the monsoon advancing within the next 36 hours. This will coincide with the normal date of arrival of the monsoon (05 June) over Bengaluru. Pre-Monsoon showers will overlap with the proper monsoon showers over the next 72 hours.

Coastal parts and interiors of South Karnataka have been lashed with heavy pre-monsoon showers in the last 24 hours. Chief amounts of rainfall are: Mangalore-114mm, Karwar-70mm, Hassan-33mm, Mysuru-56mm, and Bengaluru- 52.4mm. The pre-monsoon month of May for Bengaluru had earlier recorded 128mm against the normal of 110mm. The month of June for Bengaluru receives moderate rains with a monthly average of 89mm only. The month of June started with very light rains on the first 2 days followed by heavy showers over most parts of Bengaluru on 03rd June.

A well-marked cyclonic circulation is persisting over Konkan, Goa and adjoining Arabian Sea. A trough is extending from this system running across interior parts of Karnataka in the close proximity of the state capital and then to the hinterland of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. This feature will cause fairly widespread rain and thundershower for the next 3 days. Weather activity over Bengaluru could be more intense in the next 24 hours and mild on the 3rd day. Most of the showers over Bengaluru will be experienced during evening and night hours. Consequentially, the southwest monsoon is likely to set in anytime soon bringing cheers of pleasant weather conditions for Bengaluru and suburbs.
