Monsoon brings good rains in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh

Moderate to heavy rain has occurred over Central India particularly Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Rain was remained confined over South-central and Eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh; however cities of North Madhya Pradesh like Guna, Gwalior and Khajuraho remained dry.

A trough was passing from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, which has resulted in good shower over these areas. Now the Monsoon trough has shifted slightly northwards. And we expect that good monsoon will continue over most of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

However, in the coming days, southwest parts of Madhya Pradesh such as Bhopal, Indore, Dhar, Ratlam and Barwani will remain almost dry. And heavy rain is expected at some places of South Chhattisgarh as well as adjoining areas of Jabalpur, Umaria, Mandla, Dindori of Madhya Pradesh during next 24-48 hours.

We expect that good rains will commence after 2 days. West Madhya Pradesh will see receding of rains however East Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Chhattisgarh will continue with heavy to very heavy rainfall after that.

At present, West Madhya Pradesh is enjoying 9% surplus rains whereas in comparison, Chhattisgarh is 6% rainfall deficient than normal rainfall. East Madhya Pradesh is 14% percent rainfall deficient. But a good continues rainfall for the next few days will bring all the deficiency into positive.
