After taking brief breaks of a few hours, rains have poured over Delhi and NCR almost the entire day. The capital of the country along with the adjoining regions like Noida, Faridabad, Gurugram have been witnessing occasional showers, leading to traffic snarls and waterlogging at most of the areas.

Rains are pouring over Delhi and NCR at present as well. Both the Safdarjung and Palam Observatory in Delhi recorded light traces of rains until this hour. Rains started pouring over Delhi along with Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad from the early morning hours today that kept on continuing almost the entire afternoon hours with occasional breaks.

Delhi has already crowned itself for recording the highest rains since 2007 which stands at 150.9 mm by recording a whopping 191 mm of rains in June this year. As Monsoon in just a few steps away from entering the national capital, rains are also expected to continuing lashing Delhi and adjoining regions.

Delhi rains are back with a bang and this time these rains are here to really stay. The national capital has been witnessing good rainfall activity for the past 48 hours which is further expected to result in the arrival of Monsoon.

Delhiites had been reeling under intense weather conditions in the form of hot and humid days and uncomfortable nights. However, rain gods did decide to bestow some kindness over Delhiites and good weather did make a comeback over the national capital.

The last 24 hours were no different and Delhi did receive some rainfall activity in a span of 24 hours. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Palam observatory witnessed light rains of 2 mm whereas Safdarjung observed very light showers of 0.4 mm.

While Monsoon has not made an onset over the national capital and its adjoining areas, conditions are becoming favourable for Southwest Monsoon to make an onset over Delhi and other parts of Northwest India in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Delhi Lightning

As per weathermen at Skymet, on and off rains will continue over Delhi and the NCR region for the next 24 to 48 hours. In fact, the city did receive some rains today and more showers during the day cannot be ruled out.
