Delhi and the NCR region have seen the Monsoon arrival a little earlier than the usual date of June 27. Earlier, the normal date of Monsoon used to be June 29 but was revised to June 27. With the arrival of the Monsoon, rains are expected to stay for some time now.

Last year when Monsoon arrived on June 30, it brought 116.6 mm of rain on the first day, making it the wettest day of the year. The temperature dipped to 29.4 degrees. However, this time, the maximum settled at 29 degrees, the lowest in the last 13 years, with rainy spells being decent enough at 48 mm. It is also one of the earliest arrivals of Monsoon along with 2015, and 2020.

Today, we can expect some showers to be seen with cloudy skies. Starting June 27, rains will increase as the Monsoon trough will be closer to Delhi and will run through and through Delhi on June 28 and 29. We can expect more intense and heavy rains during this time.

Delhi has already recorded 72.6 mm of rain against the normal of 80.6 mm, thus, we can expect the city to far exceed its monthly normal. As far as temperatures are concerned, we do not foresee the maximum to be above 40 degrees anytime soon now.
