Monsoon active across major cities of India

NE-Rain mainThe Southwest Monsoon covered a large portion of the country on June 21, 2016. It further advanced into remaining parts of Madhya Maharashtra, East Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. It has also reached Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and covered entire Jammu & Kashmir. It has also covered some parts of West Uttar Pradesh.

Gujarat and plains of North India are yet to come under the purview of Monsoon rains. However, several major cities in India witnessed good Monsoon rains on Monday and rains will continue over these cities.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) now passes through Latitude 20.0°N/ Longitude 60.0°E, Latitude 20.0°N/ Longitude 70.0°E, Dahanu, Ratlam, Jhansi, Lucknow, Pantnagar, Dehradun, Una and Jammu.

We can easily say that Peninsular India and the foothills of the Himalayas will be the most active regions in terms of Monsoon rains.

Rain in South India

In Peninsular India, Monsoon is vigorous along the West Coast and active in most of the other parts. The major cities to receive Monsoon rains tomorrow are Mangalore, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Visakhapatnam among others. Mumbai and Pune will also receive Monsoon rains tomorrow.

Rain in East India

The foothills of the Himalayas are receiving heavy rains for the last two days. Tomorrow, heavy showers are likely in Gorakhpur, Bahraich, Purnea and Darjeeling. Heavy showers are also likely in Cherrapunji, Pasighat and Gangtok.
