Delhi- NCR has been witnessing dry and warm weather conditions since last week. Sky has been absolutely clear, leading to bright sunshine.
According to Skymet Weather, the western end of axis of Monsoon trough is running close to the foothills of Himalayas. As a result, dry and warm winds from northwest direction have led to rise in the day temperatures.
We expect this dry weather to continue until September 21. However, weather conditions are all set to change by weekend. By September 22, rains would once again make an appearance over the national capital and adjoining areas of Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad.
Rains would be patchy in nature, with few areas recording light rains and some places witnessing intense showers. The rain activity would pick up pace September 23 onwards and we can expect few moderate spells and one or two heavy spells.
Weather models are indicating that the approaching rainy spell would be a prolonged one which is likely to stay up to September 26.
The revival of Monsoon rains can be attributed to the movement of low-pressure area towards the central parts of the country and then gradually up to northern plains. Simultaneously, a Western Disturbance is also expected to affect over Western Himalayas.
These weather systems would infuse humid winds from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal over the northwestern plains.
We have reached fag end of the Monsoon 2018 and this can be touted as the last heavy spell of season over Delhi-NCR.
