According to Skymet Weather, the off-shore trough which had become insignificant and was running along Karnataka and Kerala coast only, had once again become active. The trough is now extending all along the West Coast from South Gujarat to Kerala.

In wake of this, rains that have been light only since last 4-5 days also increased yesterday. With this, mercury has taken a marginal dip, paving way for comfortable weather conditions.

Further, with the off-shore getting more marked, Mumbai stands a chance of recording some moderate spell of Monsoon rains during the next 2-3 days.

However, weather models are indicating towards the formation of a cyclonic circulation over South Gujarat and adjoining North Arabian Sea during the next 48 hours. The system will be responsible enhancing the Mumbai rains significantly by June 27, wherein city could see heavy to very heavy rainfall.

So far, the city has recorded 233.6 mm of rains but it is still lagging far behind its monthly mean of whopping 582 mm. However, we still have seven days in hand and with unpredictable Mumbai rains, we can never lose the hope of achieving that daunting target.

Mumbai is famous for three-digit rainfall during June and we will not be surprised, if the city records around 200 mm of rain on any given day.
