In the first month of Monsoon, i.e. June, most parts of Maharashtra are currently witnessing rainfall deficiency. As of June 22 the rainfall deficiency is 28% for Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha is 45% rain deficient. Whereas Marathwada is 7% rain deficient, all thanks to some good rainfall in the region.
Now Monsoon surge is active over West Coast particular over North Kerala, Karnataka and Konkan & Goa. Therefore we expect fairly widespread rain activity right from Dahanu to Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg.
However interior parts of Madhya Maharashtra will continue to get scattered light to moderate rain activity, whereas Vidarbha and parts of Marathwada may receive some good spell mainly in the afternoon or late evening hours for another 2-3 days.

Intensity of rain will further increase over Vidarbha and Marathwada as well as in Konkan & Goa by the end of the month, around June 28-30. It is around that time only when Vidarbha and adjoining parts of Marathwada may receive heavy to very heavy spells of rain activity.
During last 24 hours, Vidarbha and South Konkan & Goa have received some moderate to heavy spells at a few places. Therefore we expect that rain deficiency of the region will come down marginally. However by the end of the month we expect that Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha will still remain rain deficient.
But this deficiency of rainfall will definitely decrease significantly as the Monsoon will progress in July and August. That is the time when rain intensity is expected to pick up over entire Maharashtra.
