Most parts of West Coast observed very good rainfall activity till June 25. The interior parts of Peninsular India were observing relatively less rains as compared to the rainfall in the entire West Coast.
Coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh also received moderate to heavy showers till June 21. Most parts of Tamil Nadu, interior Kerala and south interior Karnataka also received scattered showers occasionally.
Now, the offshore trough over the West Coast and the Monsoon surge from the Bay of Bengal have weakened. Therefore significant reduction in rainfall activity over entire Peninsular India has been observed.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, light rain will continue over the West Coast particularly over South Karnataka and Kerala coast. After 48 hours, the rainfall activity will increase over the northern coast of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. However, this rainy spell will be light to moderate and patchy in nature. Heavy showers in the aforementioned area is highly unlikely.
Rainfall over Tamil Nadu, interior parts of Kerala, north and south interior Karnataka, Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra will remain subdued for the next 4 to 5 days. The reduced rainfall activity will further increase the rain deficit in Peninsular India.
As of now, due to good rainfall activity over these areas till June 25, the rainfall has been above normal. However, the rain percentage will soon decrease gradually due to subdued rain over the region.
