Bengaluru has been recording moderate to heavy Monsoon rains for every alternative day since September 25. While the city recorded 54 mm and 56 mm on September 25 and 27, respectively, it received light rains to the tune of 9 mm on September 26 and 2 mm on September 28.
Now, the weather conditions along with the cloud configuration are indicating that the state capital may see moderate to heavy Monsoon rains on Thursday as well. This spell may hamper the 4th ODI match between India and Australia scheduled for today at 1:30 pm at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Weather has already cloudy, leading to extremely comfortable conditions. Mercury has dropped significantly, with maximum temperature presently settling around 25°C.

According to Skymet Weather, these ongoing rains can be attributed to the several weather systems hovering over and around the region.
A cyclonic circulation is seen over North interior Tamil Nadu, while another circulation is marked over West-Central Bay of Bengal off North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha. Besides this, an upper air trough extending from this system to Kerala across Rayalaseema and South Karnataka.
In wake of these systems, moisture laden winds from Bay of Bengal have been reaching South Karnataka including Bengaluru.
Weathermen are of the view that as the mercury will start rising by afternoon, we can expect the formation of thunderclouds that would give moderate to heavy rains over the region. However, these spells will be of shorter duration but sharp in intensity.
We expect these rains and thundershowers of varying intensity to continue for another 3-4 days till October 1. The city has so far recorded 496.5 mm of rain, surpassing its monthly average rainfall of 212.8 mm. With this, the cumulative rainfall for the city is excess by 45% as on September 27.
