Gujarat region was rain deficient by 41 percent by the end of July. But, due to some good rainy spells over the region during last 3-4 days, this rain deficiency has declined to 32 percent.
Similarly, Saurashtra and Kutch region was also observing a rain deficiency of 52 percent by July end which came down to 46 percent. During last 24 hours, Gujarat region has observed fairly widespread rains. Rainfall recorded in last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday is displayed in the table below:
A cyclonic circulation which was over Gujarat has now shifted towards South Pakistan and has weakened further. Another cyclonic circulation has developed over South Rajasthan which is again likely to give moderate rains at many places over Gujarat region.
Alongside, few heavy spells over the Saurashtra and Kutch region cannot be ruled out as well. The rain intensity will be much more over the Kutch region and northern parts of the state. Good showers are likely to lash the state until August 6.
Thereafter, rain intensity is expected to reduce, however, scattered light rains are still likely to batter few parts of the state.
