Moderate showers to bless West Bengal, Odisha likely to witness light rains

From past few days, Bihar, Jharkhand and East Uttar Pradesh have been receiving decent rains. During last 24 hours, moderate to heavy spells have occurred over parts of Bihar and Jharkhand. Although, Gangetic West Bengal has managed to receive few light spells only. Few light to moderate spells were even recorded in parts of East Uttar Pradesh along with Odisha.

Let's have a look at the rainfall recorded in most parts of Eastern region of India in a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday:

The reason for these rain activities over parts of eastern region of the country can be associated with two cyclonic circulations. One over Assam and Meghalaya and another over west central Bay of Bengal. Due to these weather systems, moist and humid winds from Bay of Bengal are reaching over parts of East India.

Gradually, north-south trough is expected to form from Bihar to west central Bay of Bengal due to which rain intensity is likely to increase over Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and parts of East Uttar Pradesh. These areas are expected to witness few moderate to heavy spells. However, scattered light to moderate showers are also likely to lash parts of Odisha.

It can be concluded that the month of September seems to be turning out much better than the previous Monsoon months i.e. June, July and August for the East India region. On and off showers are continuing in these areas and are further expected to endure over the region for another 3-4 days.
