Chhattisgarh has been witnessing some good rains from last 2-3 days. These include rainfall of varied intensity from moderate to heavy showers. These moderate to heavy rains can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation which was over west central Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal Odisha that has induced a low pressure area.
Let’s have a look at the rainfall recorded in a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday over most of the districts of the state:
Furthermore, the low-pressure area which is now over South Odisha and coastal Andhra Pradesh is likely to move in west direction and is expected to continue to affect the weather of entire state.
In the wake of this weather system, moderate to heavy rains are expected to continue over many parts of Chhattisgarh. However, intensity of rains is expected to be more over the southern region of the state. Places like Raipur and Jagdalpur are expected to continue with moderate showers.
As per Skymet Weather, chances of heavy water logging in most parts of the state is also expected as these moderate rains are likely to continue for another 3- 4 days.
At present, the cumulative rainfall deficiency for the state of Chhattisgarh stands at 6 percent. However, more rains are expected to lash the state by weekend which would further lead to reduction in the rainfall deficiency of the state.
