Moderate rains in Ambikapur, Korba; light in Raipur, Bastar of Chhattisgarh

Good rains have been lashing the northern districts of Chhattisgarh from past few days. The rest parts of the state also recorded some spells.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Amikapur recorded heavy rains to the tune of 127 mm, while other districts just observed light showers such as Bilaspur 9 mm, Pendra 8 mm, Rajnandgaon 7 mm, Jagdalpur 5 mm, Raipur 2 mm and Durg 1 mm.

All thanks to the depression that shifted from Northwest Jharkhand to southeast parts of Uttar Pradesh. Consequently, the northern districts of Chhattisgarh that are in the vicinity of this system will continue to get moderate rains with one or two heavy spells. While central and southern parts of the state are likely to record light with one or two moderate showers.

In fact, heavy rains will also continue over Southeast Uttar Pradesh as well as Northeast Madhya Pradesh for another 24 hours.

As per Skymet Weather, this weather system will move in west-northwest direction. In wake of this, the intensity of rains will reduce over Chhattisgarh but scattered light rains will continue over many districts.

The weather will remain pleasant with cloudy to partly cloudy sky. As on July 26, the state of Chhattisgarh is rain surplus by 5%.
