Moderate rain in Uttarakhand, Himachal to continue; light rain in Kashmir

The northern hills of India i.e. Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand recorded light to moderate rains during the last 24 hours. In fact, many places in Uttarakhand recorded heavy rainfall activity, such as Pantnagar recorded 72 mm of rain.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Pithoragarh recorded 51.3 mm of rain, followed by Srinagar 22.7 mm, Nainital 19 mm, Leh 13.6 mm, Dharamshala 13.4 mm, Champawat 13 mm, Manali 4.8 mm, Qazigund 4.2 mm, Shimla 1 mm, Solan 3 mm, Gulmarg 2.2 mm.

However, recently few heavy spells were witnessed over Himachal and Uttarakhand leading to cloud burst incidents such as Solan. Due to this, landslide also occurred in few parts and many vehicles were trapped and buried under the rocks.

Further also we expect few moderate to heavy spells over Uttarakhand and isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh during the next 24 to 48 hours.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir may also receive scattered rain and thundershower activity, but intensity of rain will be much less there in comparison to Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Rains are expected to reduce over the Western Himalayas after two days, however on and off showers will still continue.
