Rain in Uttar Pradesh

Since last four to five days, the axis of Monsoon trough is running across the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Moreover, the low-pressure area was also persisting over Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Bihar.

Due to these systems, fairly widespread rainfall activity continued over both the states. Central and northwest districts of Uttar Pradesh received heavy to very heavy rains. Although Bihar received comparatively less intensified rains. Both the states also experienced flooding situation in many parts.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday, Gaya recorded 76 mm of rain, followed by Bhagalpur 54 mm, Patna 33 mm, Purnea and Supaul 20 mm, Bahraich, Bareilly and Gorakhpur 13 mm, Darbhanga 11 mm, Meerut 6 mm and Fursatganj 2 mm.

Now the western end of the axis of Monsoon trough has shifted towards south and is passing through Delhi and a low-pressure has formed over North Odisha and adjoining region. Therefore, we expect moderate rains with few spells to continue over Uttar Pradesh and Bihar for another 24 hours.
