The northern parts of Tamil Nadu received moderate rainfall activity during the last 24 hours. In fact, Thiruttani and Vellore recorded good rains to the tune of 34 mm and 33 mm. Meanwhile, the southern and central parts witnessed almost dry and warm weather conditions.
In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Coonoor recorded 25 mm of rain, followed by Aarogyavaram 18 mm, Parangepettai 8 mm, Yercaud 7 mm, Dharmapuri 5 mm and Salem 4 mm.
At present a cyclonic circulation is seen over Rayalaseema and adjoining parts of North Tamil Nadu at lower level. An upper air trough is extending from this system to South Tamil Nadu Coast.
Simultaneously another cyclonic circulation also lies over West central Bay of Bengal and adjoining region. This system is tilting southwestwards as height extends.
Due to the presence of all these systems, Tamil Nadu is likely to receive moderate rainfall activity over the northern parts of the state. Meanwhile, central parts of Tamil Nadu will receive light rainfall activity and the southern parts will almost remain dry.
The capital city Chennai may also receive light to moderate rainfall activity.
These rains are most likely to occur during the next 24-36 hours. Thereafter rainfall activity will once again decrease in Tamil Nadu.
