Moderate rain in Kerala to continue

The state of Kerala has been receiving moderate rain showers since last couple of days. In fact, during the last 24 hours also, moderate showers along with few heavy spells occurred over many places of Kerala, mostly the southern districts of the state.

However, as of July 21, the state of Kerala is already rain surplus by 23%.

Many places recorded heavy showers as well. In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, other places such as - Kannur recorded moderate rain to the tune of 25.1 mm, followed by Kozhikode 12.3 mm, Alappuzha 4.4 mm, Kochi  9.7 mm, Punalur 1.7 mm and Kottayam 6 mm.

However, these rainfall activities occurred in associated with the off-shore trough running from Konkan & Goa to Kerala Coast.

Further also, we expect similar rainfall activities to continue for the next three days i.e. moderate rains with isolated heavy showers over few places. Thereafter, from July 26 rain intensity over the state of Kerala is expected to decrease.

The maximum temperatures over Kerala are settling in in the high 20’s and mostly between 28-30 degrees.
