Mission Shakti: PM Modi addresses nation, India fourth country to have anti satellite capability

In a surprise address of nation, PM Modi made an important announcement at 12:30 PM today. Modi began with talking about as to how India has been using space technology, i.e. satellites, in various fields including Agriculture and Weather.

PM Modi then mentioned that India has now registered its name under Space Power today, i.e. March 27. In its Mission Shakti, India has been able to successfully shoot down a Low-Earth orbit, a test operation, not targeting anyone.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) scientists and several others were congratulated who were involved in the success of the mission. India has now joined the elite league of space powers and has become the fourth nation after USA, Russia and China to have developed anti satellite weapons.

Modi has assured that new space capability that India has successfully acquired will not be used against anyone. This mission was undertaken for India's security and nothing else.

In fact, Modi even went further to say that this will only make India stronger, more secure and will further peace and harmony.

The Ministry of External Affairs has said that while A-SAT is not directed against any other nation, the government stands committed in ensuring the nation’s national security interests and is alert to threats from emerging technologies.
