Mirzapur, Kolkata, Ranchi and Jamshedpur to witness rain with lightning strikes

This winter season, East India has witnessed good spell of rain except Jharkhand which was rain deficit by 20%. In the pre-monsoon season (March1 –May 31), the state of West Bengal is so far excess by 103%. The other states like East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha are rain deficient.

Meanwhile, dry weather will prevail in the eastern parts of the country for next two days. Between March 14 and March 15 a confluence zone would develop from East Uttar Pradesh to Gangetic West Bengal. Thus, scattered rains can be seen over East Uttar Pradesh, southern parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and North Odisha on March 14. The rains will continue for another day in Jharkhand, North Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal.

Places like Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Ghazipur, Aurangabad, Gaya, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Jharsuguda, Baripada, Sambalpur, Kolkata, Howrah, Diamond Harbour, 24 Parganas and Midnapore would witness rain and thundershowers on March 14 and March 15.

By March 17, another confluence zone would develop in Jharkhand extending up to Gangetic West Bengal. Due to this weather system, Jharkhand, North Odisha as well as Gangetic West Bengal might witness another round of scattered rain and thundershower activities. Thereafter, weather would become dry.

These rains would be light in nature with one or two moderate spells. Lightning strikes with squally winds over Jharkhand and Odisha cannot be ruled out.
